TRAI recently amended its regulations to curb unsolicited spam calls and promotional messages from unregistered telemarketers (UTMs) and increase penalties for spammers and non-compliant operators. The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has criticised the updated rules, including penalties on service providers.
