The Competition Commission of India imposed a Rs 213-crore penalty on Meta regarding its WhatsApp privacy policy on Monday, and the company expressed disagreement with the decision and said that it intends to appeal. The CCI directed WhatsApp on Monday to desist from sharing user data with Meta-owned applications for advertising purposes for a period of five years.
