Smartphones sold in India from 2025 will require a standardised charging port which is likely to be the USB Type-C, according to a report. This new rule is speculated to be aimed at enabling users to use a single cable to charge multiple devices – a measure to reduce e-waste. India’s reported new mandate may also include laptops but from a later date.
